There are a huge number of options when it comes to drape and curtains, Colour, Material, Fullness, Hem, Lining, Top Finish and we can guide you through all the pros and cons and always bear your budget in mind.

All of our curtains comply with BS5867 Pt 2 B which is the British Standard for flame retardant fabrics used for curtains and drape.

Material

Popular materials include Wool Serge, Velvet Velour, Bolton Twill, Molton Trevira and many more. They are popular with our customers because of the strength, durability and range of colours.

Wool Serge is very strong and can be washed and remain flame retardant and doesn't require lining.
Velvet Velour provides a very plush look in some simply gorgeous colours and is also durably flame retardant (can be washed). Bolton Twill is ideal for schools and low budget venues. It's strong and durable, matt colours and depending on its use does not require lining.

That's just a handful of what we have on offer, get in touch and we'll bring a sample book!

Fullness

Fullness refers to the 'waviness' or pleated look to a curtain. It is measured as a percentage of additional material used. So a 50% 4m wide curtain would use 6m of material pleated back down to 4m. A curtain with 0% fullness will appear flat when closed.

Hem

The base hem often has chain running through it. This helps the curtain hang properly and flow smoothly. The chain is suspended part-way up the hem to eliminate scraping noises as the curtains open and close - this also helps prolong the life of the curtains.

Top Finish

Curtains can be 'put up' in a wide manner of ways. Here's a quick rundown of the popular methods.
  • Ties - Cotton Ties are spaced evenly along the top of the drape to tie it to any kind of bar.
  • Tab Hooks - Metal sprung hooks offer a strong solution and used with curtain tracks.
  • Golf Bag Hooks - Metal hooks mounted below the top edge. Used with some tracks or catenaries
  • Rufflette - Very flexible top finish allows for various styles and gather.
